By the Order of the Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 1, 2013, No. 50, the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Kazakhstan, comprising 45 elements, was approved. In accordance with the Order of the Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated May 28, 2024, No. 211-nq, the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Kazakhstan was updated and expanded to 79 elements.
The mentioned elements are classified into 5 main categories:
I. Oral traditions and forms of expression, including language as a carrier of intangible cultural heritage – 27 elements;
II. Customs, rituals, and celebrations – 13 elements;
III. National games and sports competitions – 12 elements;
IV. Knowledge and practices related to nature and worldview – 7 elements;
V. Knowledge and skills related to traditional occupations – 20 elements.
