History of Alpamys batyr

The epic tells about the events related to the wars with the Kalmyks in the 14th- -16th centuries. The plot of the epic goes back to ancient Oguz legends. The Kazakh, Karakalpak, Uzbek, Bashkir, Tatar versions of the epic and the Altai version in the form of fairy tales have been preserved. The national versions of the song say that Alpamys batyr came from the Konyrat tribe and he was born in Zhideli-Baisyn.

The epics are performed at weddings, solemn festive events, singing contests, and broadcast through TV programmes and YouTube dedicated to the promotion of traditional arts. In Turkestan and Kyzylorda provinces, the tradition of performing the Alpamys Batyr epic has been preserved. As part of the educational project "Qazaq epos" in 2019, the epic "Alpamys batyr" was performed at the national contest "Tulpar minip, tu algan".
