The National museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the China National Silk museum will establish a joint laboratory

At the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yang Hailiang, a representative of the National Silk Museum of China, and Alibek Kuserbayev, Deputy Director of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, signed an agreement on the joint study of silk materials discovered in Kazakhstan.

Under the agreement, the parties plan to establish a joint research laboratory at the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan in cooperation with the Chinese side.

The main objective of the agreement is to conduct joint research, conservation and restoration of silk materials discovered in Kazakhstan together with international partners, as well as to facilitate the exchange of expertise among specialists.

According to Alibek Kuserbayev, Deputy Director of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, this initiative will provide an important opportunity for specialists from both countries.

«We have a considerable collection of ancient and valuable artefacts made of silk. However, we lack the qualified specialists and specialised equipment required for their comprehensive study. By using the specialised tools and equipment provided by the Chinese side, we will now have the opportunity to conduct large-scale research and conservation work in this field in Kazakhstan. With the support of highly qualified Chinese specialists, their research expertise and advanced equipment, we need to comprehensively study and restore our unique cultural heritage», – Alibek Kuserbayev said.
