A press tour was organized for journalists to mark Media Workers' Day

A special press tour was held at the National Museum to mark Media Workers’ Day. As part of the event, journalists were given a unique opportunity to visit the museum’s collections storage facilities for the first time and learn about the work of its restoration workshops specializing in paintings, graphics, and paper-based artifacts.

The event brought together representatives of the Khabar Agency, 24KZ, First Eurasia Channel, Qazaqstan National TV Channel, Egemen Qazaqstan newspaper, as well as other leading media outlets.

The day offered journalists a truly unique experience. In addition to viewing the museum’s exhibitions, which they had previously seen only through television coverage, they were able to gain first-hand insight into the daily work of the professionals dedicated to preserving and restoring Kazakhstan’s historical and cultural heritage.

During the press tour, media representatives also visited the museum’s souvenir workshop, where exclusive handcrafted items unavailable elsewhere in the capital are produced. These include accurate replicas of renowned historical artifacts such as the Golden Man, the Taksai Princess, the Tobyl Statue, and many other museum treasures. The workshop’s specialists produce souvenirs that promote Kazakhstan’s rich history and culture, which are presented as commemorative gifts to foreign delegations and visitors to the capital.

Participants were then introduced to the preparations for the international exhibition «Splendid Silk: Contemporary Chinese Silk Art», which officially opened on 2 July at 4:00 p.m. The exhibition showcases embroidered silk artworks, unique hand-stitched masterpieces, and traditional Chinese garments crafted fr om natural silk.

The journalists also visited the museum’s collections storage department, wh ere they viewed authentic historical artifacts, including antique wooden objects and personal belongings of prominent figures in Kazakhstan’s history. Among the exhibits were the dombra of the celebrated Kazakh kui performer Dina Nurpeisova and the personal mirror of Mariam Zhagorkyzy – the author of the famous Kazakh song «Dudar-ai», a distinguished folk artist and Honored Worker of Arts of the Kazakh SSR. The opportunity to observe these rare artifacts up close and learn their stories left a lasting impression on the participants.

The next stage of the press tour took place in the museum’s restoration workshop, wh ere specialists demonstrated the meticulous and highly responsible process of conserving and restoring historical artifacts while sharing the techniques and expertise required to preserve cultural heritage for future generations.

At the conclusion of the event, representatives of the media received Letters of Appreciation on behalf of the Director of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, along with commemorative gifts. Guests were also invited to a traditional hospitality reception.

The press tour enabled journalists to gain a deeper understanding of the museum’s daily activities and witness the extensive work being carried out to preserve Kazakhstan’s historical and cultural heritage.

The primary objective of the press tour was to promote the activities of the National Museum, raise public awareness of the country’s historical and cultural heritage, and strengthen cooperation with the media.

It is also worth noting that the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan plans to sign a memorandum of cooperation with representatives of the media in the near future. The initiative aims to further develop partnerships, strengthen cultural ties, and create new opportunities for implementing joint information and media projects.
