Kazakhstan and China have entered a new stage of cooperation in the museum field

A New Phase of Museum Cooperation Between Kazakhstan and China Has Begun.

Berik Abdygaliuly, Director of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, participated in the 4th Global Museum Directors Forum held in Beijing.

During the forum, he emphasized the importance of international cooperation among museums and cultural diplomacy. It was noted that cooperation between museums in Kazakhstan and China has reached a new level in recent years. Participants were introduced to the «Golden Man and the Great Steppe» exhibition organized in China, as well as other international projects. It was also announced that the exhibition «Magnificent Silk: Contemporary Chinese Silk Art» is planned to be held in Astana.

The Kazakh delegation included Botagoz Syrgabayeva, Director of the Kazakhstan Cultural Center in China under the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Serzhan Sarov, Director of the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan; and Kalamkas Duzbayeva, Counselor at the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the People's Republic of China.

During the visit, the parties discussed joint archaeological and research projects. The forum also addressed issues related to the digitization of museum collections and the development of academic mobility for museum professionals.

In addition, the National Museum of China presented the «Belt and Road Cloud Museum» project. The initiative will enable museums around the world to integrate their collections into a shared digital platform. These efforts are expected to further strengthen cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Kazakhstan and China.

Museum leaders from Kazakhstan, China, Portugal, and other countries participated in the presentation of the international digital platform. The official launch of the platform is scheduled for the end of 2026.

Furthermore, Kazakhstan currently operates the national E-museum portal, which brings together tens of thousands of artifacts from museums across the country.
