The exhibition «The Great Steppe. History. Engravings» opens

The exhibition «The Great Steppe. History. Engravings» has opened on the 7th floor of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The partner of the 19th-century engravings exhibition is the «BonArt» auction house (Madrid, Kyiv, Almaty), which has presented around 100 works selected from pieces by Russian, German, Italian, and French engraver-artists.

The exhibition showcases the full richness of engraving genres and subjects: from everyday portraits to unique historical documents in the form of travel notes from ethnographic expeditions, as well as battle scenes and allegorical compositions depicting the daily life of Kazakhs more than 250 years ago.

Through the graphic language of engraving, the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan and its partners reveal the historical images and symbols of the Great Steppe, as well as the lifestyle, worldview, and both the material and spiritual culture of Kazakh society from two and a half centuries ago.
