Today, the leadership and specialists of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Museum of the People's Republic of China held a meeting to discuss the upcoming joint archaeological expedition.

The expedition is being organized within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding previously signed by the two museums.

From 14 July to 16 August 2026, the National Museum of the RK and the National Museum of the People's Republic of China will jointly conduct an archaeological expedition.

The aim of this international expedition is to carry out joint research on Bronze Age archaeological sites in Kazakhstan and to publish scientific works based on the findings.

During the expedition, archaeologists from the Institute for Scientific Research of Cultural Heritage of the National Museum of the RK and the Institute of Archaeology of the National Museum of the People's Republic of China will conduct archaeological excavations at a Bronze Age settlement near the village of Imantau in the Aiyrtau District of the North Kazakhstan Region.

The research is expected to provide new insights into the daily life, economy, and culture of the region’s ancient inhabitants, as well as uncover valuable artifacts that will be introduced into the scientific record.
