The 120th anniversary of the birth of composer Latif Khamidi

Organized by the Department of Museum Pedagogy and Children's Creativity within the framework of the Shanyraq project, an evening titled «A Personality Who Elevated the Spirit of the Nation Through Music» was held to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the birth of the distinguished composer and prominent figure in musical art, Latif Khamidi.

The event aimed to promote Khamidi’s creative legacy among the younger generation and to foster greater interest in national arts and culture. Students of Secondary School-Lyceum No. 73 took part in the program.

During the evening, attendees watched a video presentation highlighting the composer’s childhood and creative journey. A. Nurymbetova, a student of the Kazakh National University of Arts, performed the song «Kazakh Waltz», while E. Kuraisova, a student of the university’s college, presented «Spring Waltz». Turgyn Bakdaulet, a student of School-Lyceum No. 59 named after K. Mynbayev, performed «Kazakh Waltz» on the violin, creating one of the most memorable moments of the event.

Young participants of the Abai Studies club from the Al-Farabi Palace of Schoolchildren also actively contributed to the literary and musical program. Ergali Nurtore recited Abai Kunanbayev’s poem «November, December and Those Few Months», while Sarsen Adina presented «Do Not Boast Without Knowledge». Askar Arys, a student of School-Lyceum No. 66 named after D. Konayev, performed the song «Kozimnin Karasy», adding emotional depth to the evening.

The educational event introduced students to the rich heritage of Kazakh music and literature. It also highlighted the importance of music as a powerful means of spiritual, moral, and aesthetic education while promoting the enduring values of national culture and art.
