Unique Artifacts from Olympic History to be showcased in Astana
On 29 July 2026, the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan will open the exhibition «From Athens to Astana. Olympic Artefacts from the Vladimir Potanin Collection».
The exhibition will feature 140 authentic artifacts spanning the 130-year history of the modern Olympic Games, including medals, Olympic torches, diplomas, and commemorative memorabilia.
A special section will showcase photographs and exhibits dedicated to some of Kazakhstan’s greatest sporting legends, including Vladimir Smirnov, Bekzat Sattarkhanov, Bakhtiyar Artayev, Serik Sapiyev, Alexander Vinokourov, Denis Ten, Olga Rypakova, Gennadiy Golovkin, and Yeldos Smetov.
Visitors will also experience an innovative digital installation in which AI-powered technology will bring images of ancient Greek gods and athletes depicted on historic Olympic diplomas to life.
The exhibition is organized as part of the cultural program of the international multi-sport event Games of the Future 2026.
