The meeting of Acting Director of the National Museum with the Acting Director of the Palace Museum

On November 2, 2023, in Beijing, the Acting Director of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aibek Sydykov met with the Acting Director of the Palace Museum (Forbidden City) Lou Wei. During the meeting, they discussed the prospects of cooperation between the museums. Both parties emphasized the importance of implementing joint projects in the field of archaeological excavations, academic exchanges, and exhibitions. Recognizing the significance of developing interaction between cultural institutions of Kazakhstan and China, the parties expressed their readiness to sign a cooperation agreement. While visiting the museum, the Acting Director Aibek Sydykov had the opportunity to explore "Thriving in a Collaborative World: “Belt and Road” Cooperation in Cultural Heritage and Archaeology" exhibiton. This exhibition showcases 84 artifacts from four cultural institutions in Kazakhstan, including the Issyk Museum, Uzbekistan, and the UAE, alongside 13 collectible pieces from ten regions in China. Together, they unveil the rich history of the Great Silk Road. The Palace Museum is a first-tier museum directly under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China. Its collections encompass over 1.8 million artifacts.
