The International Conference "Museum and Epoch"

From November 12 to 16, within the framework of the large-scale complex program "Commonwealth Heritage. Traditions for the Future", initiated by the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts, the Russian Ethnographic Museum (St. Petersburg) is hosting the International Conference "Museum and Epoch", with the participation of the Acting Director of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aibek Sydykov and the Museum's Scientific Secretary Sayalbek Gizzatov. Aybek Sydykov made a report on "The Institute of Social Memory in the Modern World" at the conference. In his report he emphasized "the integral role of cultural sovereignty and state cultural policy in strengthening national identity, focusing on successful examples of national projects and museum initiatives". Special attention is also paid to the role of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the development of cultural cooperation, highlighting national cultural brands and successful unification of traditions and innovations through participation in international forums, exhibitions and involvement of many countries in the exchange of cultural heritage. In his speech Aibek Sydykov initiated a new paradigm in the field of cultural exchange by implementing digital restitution, which is a unique tool of virtual ownership of cultural values and proposed to include this issue in the agenda of the next conference.
